Sean Corcorran Obituary

Sean Mitchell Corcorran

March 23, 1954 – January 18, 2025

Sean Mitchell Corcorran, a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on January 18, 2025, at 12:20 AM. Born to Marjorie and John Corcorran on March 23, 1954, he was the second of six brothers raised in Walnut Creek, California. He attended high school in Pleasant Hill and Moraga before earning a mechanical engineering degree from the University of California, Berkeley.

Sean built a remarkable career, beginning as a project manager at IDEO in Palo Alto, where he led innovative teams in developing groundbreaking products. He later became the Head of Global Production Innovation at Steelcase, driving key design and production strategies. As General Manager of Education, he traveled the world, showcasing high-design solutions that transformed learning environments for students everywhere.

Beyond his professional achievements, Sean had an adventurous spirit and a lifelong love for sports. An avid skier and golfer, he was always eager to plan the next adventure. Whether hitting the slopes, perfecting his golf swing, or watching a great game, he found joy in the energy and camaraderie of sports.

Sean also had an insatiable love for travel. Whether for work or pleasure, he found joy in exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and connecting with people from all walks of life. A true connoisseur, he delighted in discovering new restaurants, always seeking out the best dishes and dining experiences wherever he went.

Sean had a passion for restoring vintage motorcycles, classic cars, and pickup trucks—always with original factory parts.

He also had a deep appreciation for jazz, a love that will live on as his children continue playing it at their dinner table in his memory.

Sean is survived by his wife, Julie; his daughter, Madeline; his sons, Ian and Evan; his brothers Jeff (Lise), Scott (Lynda), Peter (Myra), and Patrick (Tina); his sixth brother, cousin Chad (Frances); and cousin Jill (Mark), who was like the sister he never had. He is also survived by extended family and countless friends and colleagues from across the country and around the world.

Sean enriched the lives of those who knew him with his optimism, creativity, and appreciation for life’s finest moments. He will be deeply missed.
