Ricardo Emilio Williamson Ruiz

Ricardo Emilio Williamson Ruiz, age 78, of Rohnert Park, California, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025. He was born on September 08, 1947, in Santiago, Chile.  Ricardo was the beloved son of Mario Williamson Ruiz and Raquel Ruiz Espinosa.  He was one of four siblings: Lilian Williamson (PA) Gladys Williamson and Jorge Williamson and all reside in Santiago Chile, along with his nieces: Catherine and Evelyn; nephews: Alexander, Paul and Claudio and grand nieces and nephews: Catalina, Martin, Emma, Lucas, Jose Pedro, Valentina, Nicole, Paul, María Belén, and Daniela.

Sometimes life can knock us down but at the same time it's full of happiness and still beautiful.

Ricardo "my Big Brother" (that’s how he wanted me to call him).  He left Chile to discover the world at a young age.  In 1969, he landed in San Francisco, California USA, which he will end up calling home, loving everything about it and never looking back.  He would say “I'm a Chilean by birth, but I'm an American by heart and soul”.

Ricardo worked for Novato Community Hospital close to 30 yrs. Where he trained and specialized in medical equipment maintenance.  After retiring from his job, he dedicated his time to travel and to his love and passion - Scuba diving – as an instructor and Sky Instructor. Like a good son of a military father, he learned and had the ability to handle arms, and enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He visited Chile but often called himself GRINGO and people that knew him respected that.

Ricardo lived a happy and full life, traveling and experiencing the world, meeting people like Jacques Cousteau whom he admired and was proud to call him friend.  Ricardo lived his life on his own terms, he was married for a short time to his childhood friend, and he used to say he needed a partner todo terreno (all terrain) to keep up with his adventures. He didn't have any children, but he had a soft spot in his heart and adored his nieces and nephews. Ricardo  loved animals, especially dogs and he volunteered at Dogs training facilities for the blind, disabled and rescue.

Those who knew Ricardo described him as kind, warm, loving, generous, a "good friend to his friends, the life of the party" and found great joy when gathering with friends and family.
We want to give thanks to all who were a part of Ricardo's life present and past. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.  Ricardo wherever you are "fly high and free" -the ultimate adventure- have a blast!

Ricardo Emilio Williamson Ruiz, de 78 años, de Rohnert Park, California, falleció pacíficamente el 12 de abril de 2025. Nació el 08 de septiembre de 1947 en Santiago de Chile.  Ricardo era el hijo predilecto de Mario Williamson Ruiz y Raquel Ruiz Espinosa.  Fue uno de cuatro hermanos: Lilian Williamson (PA) Gladys Williamson y Jorge Williamson y todos residen en Santiago de Chile, junto con sus sobrinas: Catherine y Evelyn; sobrinos: Alexander, Paul y Claudio y sobrinos nietos: Catalina, Martin, Emma, Lucas, Jose Pedro, Valentina, Nicole, Paul, María Belén y Daniela.

A veces la vida puede derribarnos, pero al mismo tiempo está llena de felicidad y sigue siendo hermosa.

Ricardo "mi hermano mayor" (así quería que lo llamara).  Salió de Chile para descubrir el mundo a una edad temprana.  En 1969, aterrizó en San Francisco, California, EE. UU., a la que terminará llamando hogar, amando todo lo relacionado con ella y nunca mirando hacia atrás.  Decía: "Soy chileno de nacimiento, pero soy estadounidense de corazón y de alma".
 

Ricardo trabajó para el Hospital Comunitario de Novato cerca de 30 años. Donde se formó y se especializó en el mantenimiento de equipos médicos.  Después de retirarse de su trabajo, dedicó su tiempo a viajar y a su amor y pasión, el buceo, como instructor y Sky Instructor. Como buen hijo de un padre militar, aprendió y tenía la habilidad de manejar las armas, y disfrutaba de la pesca y la caza.  Visitó Chile, pero a menudo se hacía llamar GRINGO y la gente que lo conocía lo respetaba.

 Ricardo vivió una vida feliz y plena, viajando y experimentando el mundo, conociendo a personas como Jacques Cousteau, a quien admiraba y se enorgullecía de llamarlo amigo.  Ricardo vivió su vida en sus propios términos, estuvo casado por un corto tiempo con su amiga de la infancia, y solía decir que necesitaba un compañero todo terreno para mantenerse al día con sus aventuras. No tenía hijos, pero tenía un punto débil en su corazón y adoraba a sus sobrinas y sobrinos. Ricardo amaba a los animales, especialmente a los perros, y se ofreció como voluntario en las instalaciones de entrenamiento de perros para ciegos, discapacitados y rescates.
 

Quienes conocieron a Ricardo lo describieron como amable, cálido, cariñoso, generoso, un "buen amigo de sus amigos, el alma de la fiesta" y encontraba una gran alegría cuando se reunía con amigos y familiares. Queremos agradecer a todos los que formaron parte de la vida de Ricardo, presente y pasada. Lo extrañaremos profundamente y lo recordaremos por siempre.  Ricardo, estés donde estés, "vuela alto y libre" -la aventura definitiva- ¡diviértete!
