In Loving Memory of Michael Steven Murray
July 24, 1949 – April 2, 2026
Mike passed away in Santa Rosa on April 2, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by quiet strength, a sharp mind, and an unwavering devotion to his family. He was 76 years old.
Born in Omaha, Nebraska, to Stephen and Elizabeth Murray, he moved to Campbell as a young boy in 1951. He was a proud graduate of Bellarmine College Preparatory, where he forged a foundation of integrity that guided him throughout his life.
A Life of Dedication and Hard Work
Mike spent his career in the grocery and merchandising industry, where his relentless work ethic provided his family with a solid foundation. Later in life, he earned an associate’s degree in accounting, achieving a lifelong dream. His support for his family took many forms, from managing the logistics and operations of his wife’s floral business, The Cottage Garden, to ensuring his children, Brett and Erin, had the path cleared for their own educations at Stanford University and Chico State. He took immense pride in providing his children with the opportunities he helped build through years of discipline.
Passions and Play
Outside of work, Mike found his greatest joy in the simple pleasures. An avid sports history enthusiast, he impressed everyone with his knowledge of baseball, football, and golf. He was a lifelong fan of Nebraska Cornhusker football, never losing touch with his Midwestern roots.
A Grandfather’s Legacy
Above all else, he cherished his role as "Grandpa." His grandkids—Allison, Kaleena, Jonathan, Ethan and Karter—were the lights of his life. Whether he was teaching them a new game or simply sharing a quiet moment, his time with them was the reward for a life of hard work.
He is survived by his wife Colleen, his children and spouses, Brett and Jennifer, Erin and Darrin; his five beloved grandchildren; and a community of friends in Santa Rosa and San Jose who will miss his steady presence.
