Kathleen Connelly (August 21, 1942 - April 5, 2025)
Kathleen Ann Connelly (Kathy Gallagher), a vibrant and dedicated woman devoted to her family and community, passed away peacefully in Santa Rosa on April 5, 2025, at 82. Born in San Francisco on August 21, 1942, Kathleen made Santa Rosa her home for over 50 years, leaving a significant impact through her diverse endeavors and dedicated service.
Her early professional life showcased her creative talents, beginning with training as a skilled seamstress and clothing designer. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone through her businesses, The Little Designers in San Francisco and the beloved Cathy’s Clothesline in Santa Rosa. Kathleen's career then transitioned into public service where she dedicated seven years as a trusted field representative for then State Senator, now U.S. Congressman Mike Thompson, serving Sonoma and Mendocino Counties. Prior to her work with Congressman Thompson, Kathleen co-owned a political consulting business, contributing significantly to local campaigns, including the groundbreaking Sonoma County Agricultural and Open Space District.
Deeply involved in her community, Kathleen served with distinction as past Board President of Home Hospice of Sonoma County, as a past Board of Director of the PACE Committee of Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, and as a member of the Sonoma County Foster Parents Association, the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce, and numerous other local organizations. In her later years in Oakmont, she remained engaged through the Lifelong Learning Committee, fostering connections with Santa Rosa Junior College. She also found joy in traveling, bridge, lawn bowling, and gardening.
Kathleen was predeceased by her former husband, Jim Gallagher and her son, Brian Gallagher. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Therese Gallagher, Heidi Gallagher, and Jeanne-Marie Hebert (Brian); her grandchildren, Todd Gallagher (Kaitlyn), Trevor Gallagher, Sophie Hebert, and Owen Hebert; and her great-grandchildren, Amelia Gallagher and James Gallagher. Her family is profoundly grateful to the staff at Adom Manor for their wonderful care in her final years.
Kathleen’s life stands as a testament to her unwavering spirit, her deep love for her community, and her remarkable ability to connect with and serve others. She will be profoundly missed by her family, her many friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
