Jerry Barnard Prickett
April 9, 1940 – June 17, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jerry Prickett, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Jerry passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, at the age of 85. He was a person of great integrity, kindness, and a great sense of humor.
Jerry was born at home on Humboldt Street in Santa Rosa, California. He was the youngest of three children raised by his parents, Hal and Docia Prickett in Rincon Valley and went to the original Rincon School before attending Santa Rosa High School. Jerry started working at a young age for the family business, Prickett’s Nursery, helping to build it to the successful business it remains. He dedicated his life to his family, and his work and continued in the nursery business for 62 years, eventually retiring and passing the business to the next generation. At the young age of 17, Jerry joined the Rincon Valley Fire Department (now known as Sonoma County Fire District). He thrived with the department, moving up the ranks to Assistant Fire Chief, being the first retiree to ever be acknowledged for 40 years of service.
He continued to live in NE Santa Rosa in the Mayacamas Hills where he built a home for him and his wife of 32 years, Jill Prickett. “She kept him young, and he kept her in check.”
Jerry loved to be outdoors and to travel and was a member of the Santa Rosa Boat & RV Club. His favorite places include visits to ancient dwellings, ghost towns, the ocean, and Trinity Lake. He loved to read, especially westerns and stories of “Billy the Kid.” He loved day trips and eating out, trains and anything western and loved BBQs with his family. But what he loved most was the time he spent with his girls.
Jerry is survived by his devoted wife Jill Prickett, cherished daughters Renee’ Donat, Denise (Glen) Baxter, Liz (Arthur) Stout, Kimberly Trenchick, and Michelle Heathman, his loving grandchildren, Dalan Clausing, Andrew (Darcy) Clausing, Jesse (Cassie) Clausing, Jeremiah Clausing, Jennifer (Andrew) Miranda, Brandi Baxter, Kyle Baxter, and Sydney Stout. He also leaves behind his great grandchildren, Malikye Miranda, Hailey Clausing, Connor Miller, Aurora Miranda, Jasper Clausing, Adam Stout, and Clark Clausing. Jerry is survived by his brother, Mick Prickett; his dear friend Kathy Hall; and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Hal and Docia Prickett, as well as his sister, Patricia Waldow.
The family would like to thank Sutter Home Health for their loving care.
