Harriet Coe Draper, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and community volunteer, passed away peacefully at her home in Santa Rosa on April 12, surrounded by family. She was 99 years old.
Harriet was the beloved widow of Albert Draper, who passed away in 2014. They were married for 60 wonderful years. Together, they raised three sons: James (Sheryl), Edwin (Theresa), and Gregory (Rebecca). Harriet was a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren and great-grandmother to seven.
Born on January 9, 1926, in San Francisco, Harriet was the daughter of Florence Dibert Coe and Edwin Coe. She was preceded in death by her sister, Florence Coe, and her brother, Edwin “Tim” Coe.
Harriet attended St. Cecilia’s Grammar School and Lincoln High School before going on to earn her degree from the U.C. Berkeley School of Public Health. She spent her professional life as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, working in various laboratories throughout San Francisco and, later, in Redwood City, where she and Albert raised their family.
In 1989, Harriet and Albert moved to Santa Rosa, settling in the beautiful Valley of the Moon. Retirement did not slow her down—instead, she found new ways to serve and connect. She volunteered as a Chaplain and Eucharistic Minister at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and made home visits for Star of the Valley Church. She also served as President of both the Star of the Valley Women’s Club and the Oakmont Garden Club.
Later in life, Harriet took up painting and found joy in capturing the beauty of her surroundings through art, reflecting the peace she found in her final home.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 11am at Star of the Valley Church, Santa Rosa, followed by a celebration of life at the Monsignor Fahey Parish Center.
Private interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Providence Hospice Foundation Sonoma County 707-321-8254.
