GLORIA CHRISTIE McLEAN
August 23, 1933 – February 27, 2024
Gloria C. McLean passed away peacefully at age 90. She will be missed by her loving family and friends. Gloria was born, raised, attended SRHS and lived her entire life in Santa Rosa. Prior to marriage she worked at Mare Island.
Gloria is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Leonard C. McLean; their children Lenney J. McLean (Shirlee), Jeannie A. Thomas (Mark), and Pamela M Harmer; 6 grandchildren, Cheri, Sara, Katy (Nathan), Mark (Lauren), Mikayla and Kaitlyn (Andrew) and 9 great-grandchildren. Gloria is also survived by 2 of her sisters, Joan Parks and Offie Ricker.
She was preceded by her parents Williams and Sara Lindsay, 4 brothers and 3 of her sisters.
Gloria enjoyed life to its fullest alongside her husband. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved adventure: camping; various sports and activities such as roller skating, bowling, dancing, tobogganing, RV, snow skiing, waterskiing, golfing, etc. She spent many years volunteering with St. Rose Catholic YLI.
Gloria loved to travel by plane, cruise ships, RV - and in her senior years she added parasailing, white water rafting, etc. while on her many trips with family and friends.
At home, Gloria enjoyed organizing potlucks at their home with family and friends. She was an avid seamstress, creative in crafts, costumes, and blankets, cultivating her beautiful gardens and landscape that she and Len created. All enjoyed her fabulous pies.
Gloria was full of life, an exciting storyteller – making any adventure come to life, extremely competitive playing cards and games – to the point we all thought she cheated. Her voice was loud to the point that some of her grandchildren thought she was angry, but she wasn’t. Truly stubborn but fair. She was strong and courageous - battled a couple of different cancers in life and won.
We did not tell her enough how much we appreciated how she was always there for us. Mom, you are a beloved wife, mom, and grandma and will be greatly missed but thankful you are in Heaven with the Lord.
Celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
