Eva Josephine McGinn

June 27, 1934 – June 11, 2026

Loving Wife, mother, sister, and friend, Eva passed away in Santa Rosa, California.

She was born and raised in Ely, Nevada the youngest of 12 children to Louis and Mildred Piscevich. She graduated from White Pine High School in Nevada. Shortly after graduation she moved to San Mateo to live with her sister, Ann Kralich, and started working as an operator for the telephone company. While working there she was introduced to her future husband, Allen Lawrence McGinn, Jr. They were married on Oct. 2, 1954, and were married for 55 years until his death in 2009. Eva and Allen had eight children which kept Eva busy as a homemaker.

Eva loved to travel and went on several cruises with family and friends. One of her favorite trips was Croatia to the visit the birthplace of her parents. While there she amused some school children by speaking a few words of Yugoslavian and counting to ten in their language, making them laugh.

Eva’s passion was playing tennis. She played on a tennis league in San Bruno and then later in Oakmont. While playing in San Bruno, Eva and her team were USTA 3.5 sectional league Champions in 1991. They were also USTA league tennis National Champions. Eva took up running when she was 44 years old. She completed the Oakland Marathon and competed in many other events at the age 40- 49 division winning several awards. After moving to Oakmont, she also took up lawn bowling, golf, and a little pickleball too. Eva could often be seen riding her bike around the neighborhood in Oakmont.

Eva was an active member of Star of the Valley Catholic Church and served as Eucharistic minister many Sundays at the church and also the Sonoma Developmental Center.

Loving Mother to Karen McGinn (Keith) of Windsor, Donna Lagomarsino (Paul) of San Bruno, Mike McGinn (Pauahi) of San Bruno, Jeff McGinn (Margaret) of Martinez and Matt McGinn (Bea) of San Bruno. Preceding her in death Kelly (McGinn) Dawson, Jonathan McGinn, and Allen L. McGinn III. She also had 10 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Friday July 10, 2026, at Star of the Valley Catholic Church (545 White Oak Dr, Santa Rosa. CA 95409) Followed by a celebration of Life at the Valley of the Moon Golf Club banquet room. 12:30 – 4:30.

As an expression of Sympathy in lieu of flowers the family asks a memorial contribution be made to Star of the Valley Catholic Church or to a charity of their choice.
