Emilio Ricci
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Emilio Ricci, on February 4, 2026.
Born on January 16, 1939, in San Francisco, California, Emilio was the son of Angelo and Erminia (Siboldi) Ricci, who immigrated from Sesta Godano, Italy in the 1930s seeking opportunity and a better life for their family. Raised in San Mateo, Emilio grew up grounded in the enduring Italian values of faith, family, hard work, and pride in one’s name, values he carried with him throughout his life.
Emilio was a devoted husband to Carol Ricci, beloved wife of 56 years, and a proud father of Steven (Letha) Ricci and Mark (Annette) Ricci. He was a cherished grandfather to Joshua, Hayden and Matthew Ricci, and his grandchildren were a constant source of pride and joy.
He is also survived by his brother, Enrico (Lynne) Ricci, and his sister, Maria (Dennis) White.
Emilio built a respected career as a BART contractor liaison, where he was known for his integrity, professionalism, and steady leadership. He believed in doing things the right way and earning respect through consistency and reliability.
In retirement, Emilio embraced a new chapter working at Benziger Winery in Glen Ellen, a place that suited him perfectly. Surrounded by vineyards and community, he worked there until the day he passed, combining his love of people and wine.
Emilio was also an active and valued member of the Kenwood Yacht Club and Holy Spirit Men’s Club, where he enjoyed the fellowship and camaraderie of the regular social gatherings and luncheons. The friendships he formed within these groups were meaningful parts of his life and brought him great enjoyment.
Those who knew Emilio will remember his quick wit and gift for storytelling. He could turn an ordinary moment into a memorable one with a well-timed joke or a classic story. He had a knack for fixing just about anything, whether it was a household repair, a car, or simply lifting someone’s spirits. If something needed attention, you could depend on Emilio for help.
Emilio found happiness tending to his garden, sharing a bottle of good wine, and gathering with family and friends. His life reflected the strength and resilience of his Italian heritage, a quiet toughness paired with warmth, humor, and deep devotion to those he loved and cared for. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, loyalty, and love. His presence was steady, his hands were skilled, and his heart was devoted to his family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Riposa in pace, Emilio. La famiglia e gli amici sono tutto nella vita. (Rest in peace, Emilio. Family and friends are everything in life.)
A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Santa Rosa on Thursday, March 5th at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Emilio and Carol’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
