Elizabeth Olsen Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Olsen, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on August 18, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on December 19, 1944, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, to Ruth and Harold Olsen, Elizabeth lived a vibrant and multifaceted life with a passion for creativity and community.

A graduate of Sonoma State University with a degree in Psychology, Elizabeth spent a major portion of her career as a teacher with an inclination for connection and mentorship. She was an avid volunteer who loved to support her local community and culture. The number of lives she has impacted through her years as a teacher and volunteer is immeasurable but undoubtedly significant.

Elizabeth called many places home, including Massachusetts, Arizona, and ultimately California (Marin and Sonoma Counties), where she cultivated many friendships through her involvements with local enthusiast groups and community gatherings. Elizabeth loved spending time outdoors in nature enjoying the serenity and exercise, live music and theatre, dancing, art, volunteering, reading, her grandchildren and any venue where she could learn something or meet someone new. Her considerate, caring heart, curiosity, and zest for life made her a magnetic presence wherever she went. She will truly be missed and remembered for her eclectic spirit, insightful conversation, generosity, mindfulness, mentorship, and devotion to making a positive impact in her community.

She is survived by her devoted son Chris; grandchildren Romero, Natalie, Melanie, Miles, Ellie, and Chase; siblings Bill, Fred, and Carl; and nieces Sandra, Rebecca, and Megan. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Neil.

A memorial service celebrating Elizabeth’s life will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Center for Spiritual Living, 2075 Occidental Road, Santa Rosa, CA. Her legacy lives on in the laughter of her grandchildren, the memories shared by loved ones, and the countless lives she brightened with her caring spirit.
