Edward Jerome Grummell of Santa Rosa California was born September 11, 1933, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Ed and Eileen Grummell, and passed away peacefully at his home on June 10, 2023. He was surrounded by his family and caregiver.
On August 29, 1986, he married Dina Padgett Grummell. They remained happily married until her passing on September 3, 2018. He attended Saint Roch elementary school, and South Point High School and went on to graduate from Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement. Edward lived in Santa Rosa since 1976. He had 31 years with California State Alcoholic Beverage Control, where he retired on December 11, 1987. After his retirement, he enjoyed traveling, gardening, and trips to Graton Casino.
He is survived by: his daughter, Karin Dowling and her husband, Michael Dowling; granddaughter, Jazzlyn Dowling; and son Michael Grummell of Santa Rosa. Stepson, Christopher and his wife, Nicole Pagett, of Concord; and stepdaughter, Dina, and her husband, Rick Bathurst, of Redding.
A visitation will be held on July 6, 2023, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lafferty & Smith located at 4321 Sonoma Hwy, with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:30 p.m. The following day, July 7 at noon, a mass in his honor will be said at Resurrection Parish, located at 303 Stony Point Road Santa Rosa, CA, with a celebration of life following the service at his home, located at 2351 Oak Knoll Drive, Santa Rosa.
