Dale McCoy Obituary

Dale Gerald Mccoy

March 6, 1943 – October 1, 2024

Dale Gerald McCoy, beloved father, Papa, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Oakmont on October 1, 2024. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan E. Johns McCoy, Dale is survived by his children Jenna McCoy-Roberts (& son-in-law J. Scott Roberts), Scott G. McCoy (& daughter-in-law Stella McCoy), Kim Heywood, and grandsons Jarod Heywood and Kevin Heywood. Born in Albany, CA, Dale graduated from Los Gatos High and San Francisco State University, where he met and married the love of his life, Sue. Spending his early years exploring the forests and creeks of Nevada City sparked a lifelong passion for nature and adventure – joys he passed on to his family. With a successful career at General Electric, Dale moved his family across the country with each promotion (12 moves over 30 years). He was an active member of the Kenwood Yacht Club and the Redwood Empire Model T Club, both of which brought him great happiness. He made lasting friends from each club as well as the Kenwood Community Church community, and he found dear new ones through his weekly COVID Zoom group. Remembered for his wisdom, sincerity, and kindness, Dale had a special way of making everyone feel valued and loved through honest advice and thoughtful support. His family and friends will miss him deeply but find comfort in the hope that he is now reunited with his Sue whom he loved forever and a day. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Kenwood Community Church 9637 Channing Row, Kenwood, CA 95452 on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kenwood Community Church or the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
