Dale Franklin Hands

Dale was born on December 16, 1933, in Davenport, Iowa. His youthful years were spent living in Iowa, Texas, Missouri, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. After graduating from Northwestern University Dental school, he joined the United States Navy. The Navy sent him to Corpus Christi, Texas; Iwakuni, Japan; Atsugi, Japan; Ping Tung, Taiwan and Long Beach, California. He left the Navy and established a private dental practice in San Mateo, California in 1961. He retired in 1997 and moved to Santa Rosa, California in 1998.

In addition to loving his family, Dale enjoyed traveling, nature and his greatest passion, sailing. While living in Santa Rosa he served for eight years as a California certified Long-Term Ombudsman and for five years volunteered at the Sonoma County Library tutoring those wishing to learn English.

He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth, his son Gregory (Sally), his stepson Erik Lindeman (Sylvia), stepdaughter Joy Passalacqua (Joe), granddaughters Julia Hands, Alyson Hands, Aya Lindeman, grandson Otto Lindeman and brothers Dan Hands and Tom Hands (Susan). Dale was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Hands and his brother David Hands.
