Betty Jean Evans - Passed away April 20, 2007 in Petaluma, CA. Loving wife of the late Willis A. Evans and Arland Bruce Welter. Beloved mother of Michael Welter, Nancy Welter, and Dan Welter. Survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Predeceased by 5 brothers and sisters.
Age: 86 years.
Betty was born in Washington, but reared in Arrowood, Alberta, Canada. Her parents moved the family to Corvallis, OR to obtain a better education, attending Oregon State University. Through her parents, she met and married Arland Welter and together they moved to CA and raised a family. Deciding she wanted to teach, Betty obtained her teaching degree from UC Berkeley in 1958, and taught high school in the Bay Area. After being divorced, she married Willis Evans in 1966, and moved to West Africa for 5 years where they worked on UN projects. She was a member of the Toastmasters as well as the Woodacre â??Lunch Bunch.â?
