Barbara Roth Imrie 11/7/1925 – 11/2/2025
Barbara Roth Imrie was born 11/7/25 in Alameda, California to her loving parents William J. and Ann “Annie” Logan Roth. After graduating from the College of Pacific, she then received her teaching credential from Mills College and taught many young people in Alameda.
She retired as a kindergarten teacher after the birth of her son, Thomas Roth Unthank, and raised both him and her daughter Karen Ann full-time.
Barbara moved to Santa Rosa with her children in 1974 and married Edgar Imrie. They loved fishing together and truth be told, she may well have outfished her loving husband. While he might complain, there was joy in his eyes as she would land fish after fish. No salmon or steelhead was ever a match for her.
She was the family matriarch and we are all grieving her loss. She will be missed by her son Tom Unthank (Jenifer), nieces Janice Williams and Leslie Thornton (Jack), godsons Randy Taplin and Mark Mallin (Gina), stepson Allen Imrie (Louette), and step son-in-law Dave Chambers. She was so blessed to have her daughter’s children in her life Kaylene Hartlieb (Josh), and Donovan Colen, along with ten step grandchildren and even more step great grand children.
As her 100th birthday approached, her health failed and she missed the milestone by just five days. One cannot help but take solace in the fact that she was able to reunite with her loving parents, husband, brother Bill Roth (Marian), daughter Karen Palter, three step-children (Margie Lorey, Sue Chambers, and Tom Imrie) two step grand children and a step great grandchild who all predeceased her.
Services to be held Saturday 11/15 at 1:00 in the chapel at Santa Rosa Memorial Park. Her lifelong charities were The Children’s Hospital in Oakland, California and The Salvation Army. Any gifts to those fine charities in her honor would be much appreciated.
