Antonia M. Flitner, 87, passed away peacefully at her home on June 19, 2023. Born Antonia Parente on January 11, 1936, in San Francisco, California – the daughter of Francis and Evelyn Parente, Antonia spent her youth in San Francisco and enjoyed summers in Lake Tahoe and visits to the family resort in El Verano/Sonoma.
Toni graduated from Dominican College in San Rafael in 1957 and shortly thereafter married the love of her life, John Desmond Flitner. The couple lived in Greybull, Wyoming, from 1957 to 1965 – moving their family of four (Michael, Cristina, Rosemarie, and Angela) to Santa Rosa, where John practiced law, and Antonia raised the family, taught catechism at Holy Spirit Church, participated actively in Lawyers’ Wives, and managed to find time to work at an antique shop, and later on, open her own antique business, Preferred Stock.
She loved to travel, cook, and entertain friends and family. She and John made numerous Christmas visits to see their daughter Cristina (Johannes) and beloved grandson Liam in Vienna, Austria. Antonia and John’s travels took them to Russia, much of Europe, South America, China, and Vietnam, as well as domestic trips to visit family in Wyoming and Florida and to the South. Antonia and John were easy travelers “going with the flow” came naturally to them – in their travels and lives. They were inexorably linked together in their lives and are now reunited in the afterlife.
Toni is survived by her children, Michael, Cristina, and son-in-law Johannes Kresbach, Rosemarie, and son-in-law Michael Marchiano, and Angela and son in law Richard Armanino as well as her grandchildren, Liam Kresbach, Justin and Siena Marchiano, and Vinnie and Mia Armanino; her two brothers, Louis and John Parente, and their wives, Diane and Janis Parente, respectively: her nephew Joe Parente. A rosary vigil will be held at Star of the Valley Church at 4:00 pm on Thursday, July 20. The funeral service will take place on Friday, July 21, at 11:00 am, also at Star of the Valley Church in Oakmont, CA. Funeral arrangements: Lafferty and Smith Colonial Chapel Santa Rosa, CA 95409 (707)-539-2921.
