No one wants surprises, especially after a death has occurred. Any funeral home will quote you a price for a direct cremation, but they don't always quote everything. Lafferty & Smith Cremation and Funeral Services will, in good faith, quote you all expected applicable fees for complete, transparent pricing. Simple and affordable can still be exceptional.

OUR DIRECT CREMATION INCLUDES:
    • Basic services of funeral director and staff
    • Local area transfer of deceased to funeral home (one staff member transporting from a hospital or nursing facility)
    • Refrigeration up until cremation
    • Cremation process (up to 300 pounds) - we own and operate our company crematory
    • Minimum alternative cardboard cremation container (generally designed for individuals up to approx. 250 pounds, though human remains vary)
    • Durable plastic cremated remains receptacle (you can choose a different urn, with no pressure)
OUR COMPLETE, TRANSPARENT PRICING: $1,598.00*
    • $1,535.00 cremation fees (as previously described)
    • $26.00 death certificate (each, from $26.00, variable by county)
    • $12.00 disposition permit (required by County Health Dept.)
    • $11.50 CA state cremation regulatory fee (required by CA Dept. of Consumer Affairs)
    • $13.50 sales taxes (from description of specific merchandise listed above)
*ADDITIONAL FEES WHICH MAY APPLY, WE TRANSPARENTLY DISCLOSE:
    • 2nd or additional attendants for residence, board and care, assisted living facility, or for weight requirements (200 pounds or more), $280.00 each; PLEASE NOTE that additional staff members may be necessary per increased weight of the loved one, charged at $280.00 for each additional staff member necessary to bring the loved one back into our care safely
    • Any transport out of the Santa Rosa area calculated on a time and mileage basis
    • Cremation process over 300 pounds, $175.00
    • Pacemaker, defibrillator or electronic device removal fee (radioactive and/or electronic devices must be removed before cremation), $75.00
    • Airtray (plywood) container for decedents exceeding the dimensions/weight for a minimum alternative cardboard cremation container, $275.00+tax
    • Coroner or medical examiner fees (e.g., the Sonoma County Coroner has a transport fee of $505.00 as of July 1, 2025; fees vary by county and subject to change)
    • Domestic shipping of cremated remains (we ship only within the U.S. - via U.S.P.S.), $175.00; please consult your local post office for international
    • Any additional disposition permits, if necessary, $12.00 each
    • Any additional sales taxes, as applicable
